Is it recommended to have a bathroom and toilet with few wall tiles?

I once took a closer look at the floor at friends' (over Christmas). Yes, that's actually true. One of the friends had 60x60 tiles in the guest WC. Then two whole tiles and a narrow one fit in. If you pay attention to it, it of course stands out a lot. I took photos for my wife and will ask her if 80x80 is really a good idea and if such a narrow strip would bother her.

With 80x80, in a small room you would of course place a full tile in the middle and then 2 equally sized strips on the left and right... and not 2 80x80 tiles and a small mini strip on the left or right, unless there is a cabinet or something going there anyway.

That's why the advice came:

Your wife's wish is currently a classic, but it can ruin the floor.

I would let expertise win ;)

Status: We have had the first of 4 bathrooms tiled. We ended up choosing the smaller formats with 60x60. Although it must be said that in some places a 75x75 or 80x80 would have been much more sensible, because of the grout pattern.

Regarding the living area, we are still considering whether to go with vinyl or tiles. We have also come across DryTile tiles (floating installation). Has anyone had experience with these?
