Had an appointment today with a flooring installer for the installation of adhesive vinyl. The topic of expansion joints also came up.
The flooring installer said he could either take over the expansion joints from the screed installer.
Then put an expansion joint profile there, lay/glue the vinyl on both sides, and then seal the joint with silicone?
Or cut open the expansion joint from the screed installer with a grinder, clamp it, bond it with epoxy resin, and then glue the vinyl on top?
We don’t like the first option visually at all. For the latter, I’m not sure if that is the current state of the art and installation guidelines?
Or are there other options or tips to avoid this silicone joint?
