Is household insurance important?

We are already aware that there are certainly cheaper insurances, but the surrounding factors were also important to us. So, that we personally know the insurance broker and that our banker was involved and and and...

Moreover, one must also say that the price-performance ratio has to be right, otherwise you are comparing apples and oranges...

Of course, you can always get cheaper insurances, but what exactly is still covered then when damage really occurs?

Well, insurance is the business of fear. I just wonder what makes your insurance so expensive. We also have a relatively expensive legal and liability insurance, because many things that everyone takes for granted are not covered in the usual insurances. I do not expect costs over 350€ per year for both. However, I have not yet spoken to my insurance broker, so I would like to know what one should pay attention to. We are building in the village, far from any forests, rivers, and lakes :). We are also not on a mountain. And we do not collect art.

Well, we have 190 sqm of living space and a relatively large outbuilding that still belongs to us. Household contents are insured for damages up to €160,000... Those are the basic facts. And as I said, we are aware that our insurance is not the cheapest, but for the reasons mentioned above, we accept that....

Ahh okay .... that’s obviously a difference :D I had just swallowed hard for a moment, wondering if it would really get that expensive :D

I think that household insurance is absolutely sensible. Especially with children, of course. For a small single apartment, I would not consider it necessary, but as soon as it concerns the topic of home ownership, it is probably one of the most sensible insurances overall.

I don't understand the thing with the children and the household insurance. Does a household insurance pay if my child sets my carpet on fire? Or smashes my living room cabinet with the soccer ball? I don't think the household insurance steps in then. Or am I mistaken?
