Is household insurance important?

You didn’t set the kitchen on fire, did you, or what am I not understanding about your argument right now?
For me, a stolen bike was once covered by it, so the insurance was definitely worth it.
But it’s like with all insurances: if there’s no damage, then it was unnecessary; if something happens, you’re glad to have it.

Yep, that was me. True, I hadn’t thought about that anymore. I think I just mixed it up because I recently had a consultation with an insurance advisor. He told me that children under 7 years old are usually not insured. However, that was about liability insurance. My mistake. Children under 7 are not legally responsible. If you want to insure them, you have to pay a small surcharge. But you have to know that. I don’t know how it is with household insurance. I was already 17 or 18 back then...

During the house construction, household insurance is rather not so important... other insurances such as [Elementarschadenversicherung], [Restschuldversicherung], [Gebäudeversicherung], and [Baufertigstellungsversicherung] play a more significant role. However, once you have moved in, you should definitely consider it...

I can only recommend everyone to take one out, because so much can happen that you wouldn't expect. I would rather secure myself once more and be able to sleep peacefully in case something really happens.

Everything that could fall out of the house if you turned it upside down is insured in a household contents insurance. And I believe that in the event of a fire, you should not underestimate the costs for completely new clothing, shoes, furniture + electrical appliances. Anyone who says, no problem, I'll just buy new ones, I would like to talk to again if such damage has occurred.

I can only generally recommend taking out household contents and building insurance with the same insurer, so comparing the package. In the event of a claim, this can be worth gold, because then the insurance companies do not have to argue for months about who is responsible for which damage, for example whether the floor is glued down and therefore part of the building, or whether it was just laid and should be covered by the household contents insurance. (just an example)
If you have everything with one insurer, the process is often easier in the event of a claim!
