Is fine plaster (Q2 lime cement or gypsum) sufficient for living space?

Plastering and painting work are the things you see afterwards.
Therefore, I would not let myself be tempted to compromise.

I showed the pictures here to my better half and she thinks everything is still too rough. She would like it to be really smooth. However, I wonder how that is supposed to be achieved. Would that then be Q4 or is it only really smooth with a painting fleece or something like that? But doesn't a painting fleece look like wallpaper?

What was shown here in terms of images, I would also, please don’t misunderstand, categorize at most as "meh."

With fine plaster you can achieve quite a lot. It’s important to first deal with whether you want to use gypsum or lime-cement. Personally, I am not a fan of gypsum.

Completely smooth: 1. Use gypsum plaster and a skilled plasterer 2. Lime-cement with fine plaster and trowel, sand down grains 3. Optional --> wallpaper over or renovation fleece, possibly fill seams

I discussed with my plasterer beforehand how I wanted the plaster. Fortunately, he then delivered accordingly. Q2 or Q9 or whatever was never mentioned. For me, more than 1000 sqm of walls were plastered only.

Holy cow: macro shot with raking light [emoji2]

But it is what it is: everyone has different taste and pain thresholds!

Tell her: It’s like with you, honey: the smoother, the more elaborate... I also like you slightly wrinkled... Karsten

is that a photo of the scraped plaster, or something else on it?
