Is final construction cleaning necessary and sensible through a cleaning company?

I just got a call from our construction company asking if we want to add a final construction cleaning? For our total 200m2 (living area on the ground floor + upper floor and usable space in the basement), it would roughly cost 1200 euros. All window surfaces and the roof window would be cleaned, as well as all doors and floors, bathrooms and toilets (tile surfaces, sanitary fixtures, fittings), and also all surfaces in the technical room. A friend who is an architect said that thorough cleaning before handover is generally advisable because that way you can really see if there are any scratches/damages somewhere.

Since our budget is not unlimited and we still do not know exactly what the final earthworks and house connections will cost, we are rather cautious with new expenses.

Idea 1: My wife and I clean the house ourselves, thoroughly and carefully. It will surely take several hours and we will get rid of all the dust. Costs: only cleaning supplies. Since we have not done any own work otherwise, this would be a manageable part.

Idea 2: Hire a cleaner, assumed hourly wage 15 euros including taxes/charges (?), makes 450 euros for 30 working hours. (Information purely estimated based on internet data). Even if the lady needs 50 hours, it is 750 euros in total. If it is faster and everything is done in 20 hours, then it is just 300 euros. And part of that is also tax-deductible :-)

Cleaning it yourself, then you will already see the first scratches and cracks.

We also cleaned our house (145m²) ourselves back then. Not necessarily to save money, but to possibly find damages or defects.

Just while cleaning the windows, we noticed some scratches on the frames and panes that a cleaning crew certainly wouldn't have pointed out to us.

The three of us (my wife, mother-in-law, and I) took half a day. That was before the acceptance inspection. After that, the ceilings and bathrooms were plastered and sanded, the entire house painted (up to this point, of course, everything was largely covered with foil), the floor on the upper floor installed, the kitchen assembled, and lamps installed. This means we cleaned everything again before moving in. I would always do it that way again. With 200m², one might possibly consider professional support. But for the reasons mentioned above, you should also get involved yourself.

quite clearly clean yourself, then you will certainly find defects more easily.

The price is ridiculously high, a building cleaner will make the entire house spotless in under a day. That then costs 1/10 of the estimated price.

At our handover, it was not cleaned. The expert noted that floors and windows were not accepted due to dirtiness. A company had to clean the windows - the general contractor also paid for that. The window cleaners went through every window and frame with my husband. Floors were not accepted - luckily. There's enough trouble with that. By the way, the window cleaning is said to have cost something over 200 euros + VAT. (2 men approx. 3-4 hours) Mother-in-law is now also getting the company twice a year. She was so impressed.

Is the question meant seriously?

You say your budget is pretty much spent, but you are considering outsourcing the final cleaning so that you don't get any dust?
