If it doesn’t rain soon in China, this trend will be quickly corrected.

crazy story. Unfortunately, I personally know only one example of X homeowners who sold the house at its prime age.

I had a conversation yesterday with a construction contractor who wants to develop the plot on the other side of the street starting next year. According to him, he plans apartments of various sizes, whereby a larger 2- to 3-room apartment is always located directly next to a 1-room apartment. These are designed so that they can be easily connected with little effort. He currently sees the following trend in the real estate market that he would like to cater to:

People in their early to mid-60s buy barrier-free apartments as retirement homes and additionally buy a 1-room apartment, which is initially rented out. Later, when they are no longer fit and possibly need care, the caregiver (often from Eastern Europe) can move into the 1-room apartment. The caregiver then has their own retreat there but is virtually part of the apartment through the direct connecting door.

We also have similar houses or bungalows in the village. A completely new development with senior-friendly living units has been created there. However, you won’t get anything under €1,000 for 85 sqm. You have to be able to afford that first. Sure, some have followed the same approach as in your example, but the majority of elderly people can’t afford that (at least here). Well, it’s all very individual. My ex-boss is now 70; about 10 years ago they built a house for old age in the mentioned residential area with 100 sqm (on recommendation, since it can also be used with family). But both still live in their 200 sqm house, fully basemented with a forest view. Why do you think?

Sorry, evelinoz, but you are too biased for me, so the neutral assessment of this situation is missing.

Apparently she did get her ass up, because now a hip fracture..,
… so she must have paid into the health insurance so that she is now a burden to others? Burden=care?

I assume, however, that she is a “burden” to you, or rather your daughter, in the sense of being annoying because they sold their own home and are badly organized?!
I can understand that they are angry that they can’t find anything, but calling the lady brainless is complete nonsense. Money doesn’t always rule where you wave it around.

Oh… they must have done something wrong. It probably isn’t about the money?!

… They should take the positive from the situation that they don’t have to pay several million euros for a wreck.

You don't transplant an old person.

That's just how it is!

I love such calendar sayings: What little Hans doesn't know, big Hans will never learn. All excuses to stay in one's own (supposed) comfort zone and not have to move at all.
