hello community,

i am currently putting together a kitchen from Ikea... my favorite would be a handleless kitchen (but solär doesn't appeal to me), so i have now gone for the compromise with aplad fronts in white. to avoid using the annoying handles, i am considering whether i can integrate a tip-on mechanism from blum. in my opinion, this is no problem with normal doors that you open and close, but i do not know how it works with the base cabinets with drawers... what kind of mechanism do you need there? and does it work with all drawer sizes? (weight!) also, i am not yet sure how it should work with the refrigerator...

has anyone of you installed such tip-on elements? i would be very grateful for tips and suggestions

best regards mattias

So Tipp On from Blum works without problems on normal cabinet doors. Parts are available, for example, at lignoshop online. One must consider that not only the Tipp On mechanism has to be installed, but the hinges also need to be replaced. Hinges without springs are required so that the door is not held closed and opens about 30 degrees after being tapped. Another possibility would be hinges with opening springs, but then the doors would always open fully, which quickly becomes annoying. The Tipp On mechanism consists of a small cylinder that is either screwed into a housing inside onto the side panel or recessed into a drilled hole in the side panel. Recessing it into the wall requires very precise drilling. I recommend the housing to be screwed on. In addition, there is a small metal plate about the size of a 1-cent coin, which comes in both adhesive and screw versions. I glued it on. After removing the protective film, attach the plate to the magnet at the front of the cylinder, close the door, and the thing is in the right place. I don’t think the whole thing will work for the refrigerator because the refrigerator door closes too firmly due to the magnetic strips in the door. Best regards hinnakk

Hej,

this tip-on system is also available at Ikea in the Besta series. No problem with regular cabinet doors, but it doesn’t work with drawers and the fridge. Since the fronts always have to remain slightly open to "tip," it simply can’t work with the freezer. With the drawers, they also "snap" shut at the back without damping, so there’s no tipping there either.

Ha, how similar the ideas are....

I bought the Apläd exactly from Ikea for a small kitchen....with white fronts and want to build it handleless..

Ordered Tipp Ons via Ebay...drilled a hole...doesn't open...I also installed the Ikea dampers...
Tried it on the sink cabinet...works perfectly despite the spring hinges...

Only on the drawer cabinet it doesn't...so, drawer down (I already thought I would break something until it came off)....removed the carcass rail again, took out the damper and then also this locking mechanism...now it works...however...Blum offers a different system for the rails...

and as I see it....it is not compatible with the Ikea/Blum rail....meaning...carcass rail still needs to be bought from Blum, then it is questionable whether the Ikea/Blum drawer is compatible with the Blum Tandem rail...

Regarding the drawers, I can say that the Blum system does not fit. Since 2007, the drawer slides sold in Germany have been manufactured by Hettich. Drawer slides and drawers from the two manufacturers are not compatible with each other. Only the oven drawer and the plinth drawer still come from Blum. By the way, the drawers can be removed without force if you press the white locking tabs in from below.
