Which is better? Rainbird or Hunter?
I'm not that deep into the topic. I only laid pipes and access points underground at my place.

The professional brands like Hunter or Rainbird are evenly matched and can also be combined well. Please only do not use Gardena. Quality is not good for irrigation and after 1-2 years you will need to replace it. It is also more expensive… Please read up properly on how the irrigation should be planned.

Thanks, I know - unfortunately.
This is a special topic with many possibilities.
So far I simply lacked the time for it and since I will already start the next new construction project this late summer (as soon as the development is finished), unfortunately I won't have time for it for the next 2 years either.

I currently use Geka couplings and sector sprinklers. They branch off individually from the main line 1.5" PE pipe via T-piece.
4 pieces in the corners, and about 80m of these drip hoses for irrigation in the front yard and in the beds.

I basically open the ball valve, the pump starts, and 2 hours later I close the valve again, the pump turns off. Done.

It can be done better, but for a fully automated system for garden, side area and front yard you would definitely need at least a week until everything runs, if that's even enough! (as a non-expert)

Landscapers would probably be tearing their hair out, but this is enough for me at the moment :D

We have an automated irrigation system for the outdoor areas of the office and have the service technician come for a full day twice a year for the spring and winter maintenance plus usually one or two repair appointments in the summer. What of that is really necessary and what is just comfort - no idea.

We have some systems in operation. Blow out in autumn and start up in spring or check if all settings are still correct. Depending on the plants, manual watering is not possible at all or employees would have to be hired for it. Less water is also needed because the amounts of precipitation are precisely known.

...and the water is better retained and not evaporated from leaves. It makes sense if the areas need it.
