Internal alternative to roller shutters?

we are currently busy planning and the idea was to do without the usual roller shutters and use other alternatives. The topic of sun protection is basically settled, now it's more about darkening the rooms because our little one likes to sleep very dark and our guests mostly do too. What can be used to make the room as dark as possible? Looking forward to ideas.

Maybe a bit old-fashioned, but possibly also a highlight: shutters or: opaque floor-length curtains. My grandma never had roller shutters, and in that house, it has been working for almost 130 years now. But you have to like it, and above all, with shutters, you have to consider whether you are allowed to install them. I think shutters have a very special charm.

Roller blinds are available in the same patterns as pleated blinds, since the base material is identical. Unfortunately, all products installed on the inside never get as dark as a roller shutter, unless it is a roof window (Velux, Roto). Velux is leading in this area. You can work with guide rails there. Unfortunately, this is not possible with classic windows due to the shallower rebate depth.

I once looked into this. They definitely won’t be completely airtight, but the roller shutter box is eliminated and apart from the glass, there’s nothing to clean.
However, not exactly cheap, but there are also plastic windows available.

Let me tell you: this is not darkening, the light is only dimmed. The [Zi.,,er] can still be used during the day without an additional light source.

Rooms can be easily and beautifully darkened with pleated blinds. I can only recommend them.
