Works for me. But ventilation on min and air conditioning on max.

Our next house will definitely have air conditioning. I can only agree that modern, well-insulated houses become a nightmare in summer because there is no way to cool them down once they have heated up. 29 degrees in the bedroom, which faces north, was simply too extreme.

That was exactly the criterion for us to omit those things. Since we have a reversible heat pump, cooling with the underfloor heating (within limits) is also possible. I set it to a minimum flow temperature of 20°C last August, it worked quite well. The rooms were around 23 to 25°C, sufficiently cool for us. The electricity consumption for this came 100% from the photovoltaic system.

There are also ceiling and duct-mounted units.

In my office, I have an air conditioning unit. But I don’t have a drain there. It must probably be with a pump. Since when retrofitting you obviously don’t want wastewater in the bedroom, the pump solution is probably the only option. Theoretically, it doesn’t have to run constantly but only when there is enough water to pump out, including a collection tank. I also don’t want a big discussion about whether something like this makes sense, but rather what kind of price I should expect. I once looked at Daikin. There are already quite expensive devices from Daikin but also cheaper ones. We only want to cool. We don’t need heating or dehumidifying. If anything, rather humidifying, for which it would inevitably need a water connection?! So that also rules it out...

We also had air conditioning installed directly last year. 3 indoor units, a larger one in the living room as well as two small ones in the office and bedroom. It cost 6100 € with plenty of meters under the screed and quite some effort to remove the water. Devices from Panasonic.

In addition, we have also installed cooling through geothermal energy. The latter has already helped a lot, this summer we always had 22 degrees and hardly used the air conditioners. Currently, however, no children yet and the garden was not really finished. Let's see how it will be next summer.
