Strange... why were we really envied by everyone last summer? They also all have modern houses here including shading. If it stays hot for a longer time and doesn't cool down at night anymore... how on earth is the air inside the house supposed to stay cool? Oh... wait, let me guess... you open the fridge?

That is possible.. but only by means of a pump inside the indoor unit, and these are potential weak points and regularly cause water where you don't want it. Besides, they are audible and therefore disturbing in bedrooms anyway. We have direct wastewater connections everywhere and no pumps. I am very glad about that.

Steffen is right. It takes longer for a shaded and very well-insulated house to heat up, but once the heat—and thus the house—has been warmed up by a long heat period, you just can't get it out anymore. Controlled residential ventilation or opening windows in the evening doesn't help either. So says my neighbor's report. Although I can't say how much my neighbor actually tolerates. Maybe 25 degrees in the house is already too hot for him. Because of this thread, I'm even considering having the preparations (cooling circuits, condensate drain [inside/outside], electricity) installed at least on the ground floor. To cool the bedrooms (4 bedrooms) as well, in my opinion, would be too much effort.

When choosing between daily living rooms and bedrooms, I would always air condition the bedrooms. During the day, you can somehow manage. But if you can't sleep at night because of the heat, it becomes terrible.

Yes, I know! But from my point of view, the effort (in terms of cost) is too high to equip 3-4 bedrooms with a multi-split system. Downstairs we could cover 55 sqm directly with one unit. I expect that, thanks to the controlled residential ventilation with the geothermal heat exchanger, the temperature upstairs will be at least 1-3 degrees lower than without it. An air conditioner downstairs could perhaps reduce the temperature upstairs by another 1-2 degrees. But I will discuss this with my installer today. Maybe the idea of air conditioning the ground floor is nonsense after all.

We have air conditioning in the large living area (65 sqm), in the bedroom, and in the attic. No air conditioning in the nursery.. they have to sweat. In the bedroom it is already running (very quiet, no problem at night) since spring, set to 18 degrees due to my wife's pollen allergy. Windows stay closed. Controlled residential ventilation keeps the pollen outside. My wife manages much better this way. Controlled residential ventilation naturally runs continuously as well. What I would do differently: Definitely add another indoor unit upstairs in the hallway (large windows SOUTH*).. that would probably cover everything. The extra cost would not have been worth mentioning.

Regards, Steffen
