Hello everyone,

you can probably help me before I hire a plumber. It’s about an apartment where there is a shower (with shower tray) in the bathroom. Now I would like to have the bathroom supplemented with a bathtub. Are there any possibilities to do this without completely tearing off the tiles? It needs a waste water pipe and a water pipe for the faucet.

Or is it not as bad as I imagine, that the bathroom will be completely ruined or that it is such a huge additional effort? What are your experiences?

Best regards

You only need to replace the tiles where the new pipes are laid. And the sewage pipe - so probably breaking up the floor (if this is possible with the necessary slope). Overall, a manageable job that still makes a lot of mess and, of course, costs money.

There are also bathtubs where the faucet is located directly on the tub rim. Then you might not need to remove any tiles for the supply line at all. It depends on where the pipes run. And the drain is located under the tub, after all. If you're lucky, you won't see it later.

The thing is, that no extra pipes are installed for a bathtub. Only the shower. That probably means that the pipes in the wall have to be supplemented for the lines to a bathtub?

You won't get around that, WiFi for water/sewage doesn't exist yet. Show some pictures/floor plan of the bathroom.

Not necessarily. You can also just pour water from the shower into the tub using a bucket and later scoop out the used water again and carry it to the drain ;). Of course, walls and floors have to be opened up!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of question is that.
