Installation location of air-to-water heat pump at a semi-detached house - too close to the neighbor?

With district heating, if he sticks to what the general contractor is planning. We want to deviate.

If he doesn't want an air-to-water heat pump and you put one right in front of him, there is definitely considerable potential for conflict.

Permissible Limits The least stringent limit for devices installed outdoors applies to industrial areas, where 70 dB(A) is considered acceptable. At the other end of the scale are areas where hospitals and similar facilities are located, where the immission limits are 45 dB(A) during the day and 35 dB(A) at night. In purely residential areas, a limit of 50 dB(A) applies during the day and 35 dB(A) at night. However, there is another catch: the values mentioned are limits for immissions – that is, for the total load from all sound sources. This is hardly controllable for the individual operator of a heat pump. The only way out is to have the heat pump classified as an “irrelevant sound source” in order to be released from this overall responsibility. For this, the respective permissible limit must be undercut by 6 dB(A). Have the installer give you the value of 35 dB(A) at your neighbor’s window in writing, then it should be fine for the time being. Otherwise, you will be compromisable!

I'm honestly surprised that you can deviate so easily there. Because in the building application you have to specify the type of heating system.

We then indicated air-to-water heat pump.

A few weeks later, we received a letter from the building authority. They asked us to have the official site plan adjusted (registration and dimensioning of the heat pump) and we also had to submit the complete documents of the heat pump for the purpose of preparing a noise report.

Later, the building authority requested information on how far our heat pump must be positioned from the neighbor and from the sidewalk.

Neither the building authority, nor the developer, nor the district heating supplier have objected. I called the building authority. An installation is possible without an application. The notary who drafted the uniform contract also gave the green light. The only thing is that the neighbor must not be disturbed by the noise level.

Yes, exactly, the neighbor must not be disturbed. So you need a noise report that proves this. Or how do you want to prove after 5 years that the noise levels are being maintained if it bothers the neighbor and they demand "anzeigt/Abbau" from you?
