Hello! I have a question about the apparent price range of infrared panels. The purchase costs of a 500W infrared panel are somewhere between €100 and €200 when buying online or from the larger building materials retail chains/furniture suppliers.

The offers from companies specializing in infrared heating technology are significantly higher, at €500+. How can this difference be explained? Installation costs are not included here.

Is the quality of the products really that much better, or are the specialized dealers simply unable to keep up with the price pressure? Thanks for your assessments!

Best regards Florian

Technically, something like this is extremely simple. I think the design dictates the price here.

I have noticed something similar with towel radiators with electric heating cartridges. Several providers with prices of 500€ and above. Then smaller private labels or providers not found on R*uter, for around 200€.

In my opinion, the technology is at kindergarten level in all versions. Design and brand make the difference. Possibly also the control of the thermostat (smart, pretty, simple, ugly).

Or have I missed something? I have now ordered from anapond because my general contractor had already installed theirs.

Why actually? You specifically insisted on an "inwand" installation of the water-based heating system with difficulties. Is that still not enough (according to the heat load calculation) or are you afraid of smelly towels?

The same applies to the entire bathroom equipment. I am currently looking for a super simple cheap handwash basin for the guest toilet (as a replacement). In the "specialist trade" there is nothing under €300, online and at the hardware store from €50. It gets even worse when there is a plumber involved who blackmails you by refusing to install third-party products. However, he has discount rates that he does not pass on. But he is also liable. Anyway, the whole thing is super opaque. Unfortunately normal.

The question is whether you want to install an entire system in the house or just a single module, for example in the bathroom. You can also take the modules from different providers depending on your project. The technology behind it is usually simple but functional and easily replaceable; the front side, however, can be made of different types of glass, colored metal, stone, etc. For us, it was important, for example, that glass modules can also be recessed into the concrete ceiling; but if you only want a single standard module, most can probably handle that without problems.
