There are several systems for good reason.
Just THAT is what I want to express with some of my posts, and some make their decisions less based on calculations and more on feeling. For us, it was clear from the start, for example, that it would be a massive plank floor and also without underfloor heating, although I had considered it. Still, I can just as well understand other approaches.
That I do not want underfloor heating with a heat pump DOES NOT mean that the system is bad. It just doesn’t fit my requirements, preferences, and ideas. Quite simple. For other families, this solution is downright ideal.
Exactly my way of thinking, and it also doesn’t hurt to not dogmatically uphold one thing while devaluing the other at the same time. It should fit your own life, and ours differs from the "typical" family life just as much as the way we deal with room temperatures. What actually surprises me is that despite existing human diversity, sometimes surprisingly little individuality shows when it comes to building houses. I always find it interesting when someone does something different and am curious about it.
Putting the economic calculation aside for a moment, underfloor heating produces a different kind of warmth than an infrared panel. Different doesn’t automatically mean better.
Currently, with underfloor heating, it is often the case that I have to “air out” heat when the temperature changes (I read this term here in the forum :D), which is probably due to the system’s inertia that I find unpleasant. Therefore, alternatively, I would also have chosen heating with nice radiators.
We are definitely deliberately installing a panel radiator on a wall that you can sit against. Is that reasonable in terms of calculations/technology? No idea...... but nice!
A planning mistake is only one if it does not fit one’s own life.
