Hi,

we have had the Utdag for a short time now and I can't say that it's excessively loud. However, I don't have any comparison values either. Does anyone have comparison values regarding the Utdag and possibly the Underverk and any experiences?

Regards

Jens

Hello, we have been using the Underverk for 3 weeks. It does what it is supposed to and is not excessively loud. However, I do not understand the connection of your statement "we have sloping ceilings and little space for wall cabinets, so there has to be an under-cabinet hood..." With the Underverk, it is built into the cabinet and takes up a lot of space there. Additionally, the exhaust pipe goes vertically upward through the entire wall cabinet to blow the air back into the kitchen at the top side of the cabinet in recirculation mode. The wall cabinet is not really usable, at least with the Underverk; I assume that the other under-cabinet hoods also have the exhaust pipe running through the middle of the cabinet. Regards, Christian

Thank you very much for the quick responses!

Good to know that the Utdrag is not perceived as excessively loud; it doesn’t have to be whisper-quiet anyway (and it would be too expensive for us then).

Yes, built-in extractor hoods unfortunately take up a lot of space inside the cabinet, but having a smaller cabinet is still better than no cabinet at all... At least next to the pipe you can still fit bottles, spices, and similar stuff in an 80 cm high cabinet.

As far as I know, the Utdrag is still quite a bit smaller than the Underverk, and for the LAGAN, according to the Ikea homepage, you don’t even need a pipe for the recirculation operation (wherever it blows the air then...), it is simply mounted under the cabinet as far as I know.

So the space requirement is inversely proportional to the price – presumably the more expensive extractor hoods also have larger fan motors.

Don't bother with the UTDRAG and get an UNDERVERK; the UTRAG is louder than modern airplanes during takeoff. Unfortunately, the fan modules from Bosch/Siemens do not fit into the metod wall cabinets; the cabinet depth is exactly 1 cm too short for the device.

The UNDERVERK is expensive, but also very elaborately designed visually, because it has a stainless steel cover at the bottom instead of the visible grease filter.

A little tip: those looking for practical experiences with Ikea products should rather check ikea.at instead of ikea.de, as there are customer reviews similar to Amazon.

Hmm, the Underverk almost steals the entire space in the cupboard and is on top of that nearly 4 times(!) as expensive... Very good tip with Ikea.at, seeing that I would nowadays almost tend to go for the stainless steel Lagan.

Take a look at the AEG DF6160-ML, it is a flat canopy hood like the UTDRAG and is rated with decent reviews at the big well-known online department store. At some online retailers, you can get it from 160 EUR, which is a good mid-range price compared to others and a manufacturer from whom you can surely buy filters in the future.

Otherwise, there is also a flat canopy hood identical from all BSH brands, where the narrow front is covered with the decorative strip. If you want to mount the decorative strip as a light shield on the upper cabinets anyway, such a model would also be an alternative and it is priced in a similar mid-range.

The lower the extractor hood is, the smaller the diameter of the motor, the higher the speed it spins to achieve the same air performance, the louder the thing is.
