How is the odor trap of the siphon? Is it okay? How long have you had the siphon? Could it be that the odor trap of the siphon is not filled with water because the thing is tilted? When did you last clean it?

Questions and more questions....

I don't think it is the smell from below, but rather that your siphon smells. And if the odors come from somewhere else, the odor trap is not okay, so check it. Unscrew the cover of the trap to smell there. But don't forget to put a bucket underneath.

I have not solved it yet, nor had it solved. If there is a solution, I will also announce it. It still smelled. I have not arranged for a plumber yet, but currently we also have VWS (pre-Christmas stress).

Even if the whole thing may already be settled, I think you misunderstood the crossed-out image. To me, it looks more like the hose should not sag downwards.

Can't the hose be turned backwards so that it practically leads directly into the drain pipe?

Also not a bad idea.

And of course the idea of the sagging hose is actually wrong. Because it could break off at some point. But you would have a kind of "fake siphon." Because then the odor trap would be in the pipe. At least that's how I imagine it. But it's not a serious solution. That's true.

Directing the pipe straight into the wall is, as I said, not a bad idea, but it is (probably) too tight. If I check it, I would consequently have to irreversibly shorten the flexible pipe piece. Where exactly do you see the advantage? Is the problem in the bend?

Best regards,
Toll

The siphon smelled from the beginning. Basically the first day about 2 years ago when I moved into the new rental apartment and after I installed it myself. The siphon is actually straight now. Maybe it’s off by about 1–2 mm. But that shouldn’t be the problem, right? I actually haven’t cleaned it yet. I will try that, but I don’t believe it will improve. There must be water inside, because you can hear it when it’s suctioned away before the odor forms.

Couldn’t it be that the siphon from Ikea is unsuitable due to the architecture of the house?

Best regards,
Toll

Hello again I have scanned the photo again in the photo gallery (I can't do it any other way at the moment), I think the problem lies here, the junction to the drain should be deeper. maybe best regards bergpriv
