Hello dear forum members,
I have some Billy shelves that I would now like to place in the hallway and use as a shoe cabinet. For this, I would like to install doors.
Now, the Billy doors cost 50 euros each, which I find quite expensive .. used ones are very rare. (Understandable at those prices :) )
So my idea was whether the 40cm Metod doors (kitchen cabinet system) might also fit the Billy shelves. The model HÄGGEBY only costs 13 euros (200cm). Has anyone tried that before? I’m not sure if the hinge drilling pattern matches or if you might have to drill completely new holes for the hinges.
The Billy doors are 192cm high, the Metod doors come in 100cm and also 200cm. With the large door, that’s 8cm more, which would mean the plinth on the Billy would have to be covered. Or would the door then scrape the floor?
Looking forward to your ideas and suggestions. Thanks!
