Hello community,
Ikea is usually acceptable in quality and somewhat cheaper than other alternatives.
But when something goes wrong, the whole thing is a mess.
I bought a washbasin including a cabinet at Ikea.
After installation, it turned out that the washbasin is not straight, but conically deformed upwards in the middle.
After complaining, I was offered 10% of the purchase price as a refund at the furniture store, alternatively that someone would come by and replace everything. I chose the second option because I wouldn’t even answer the phone for 10%. Now the whole misery begins:
- no one showed up at the first appointment
- at the second appointment, the replacement basin was defective; installation not possible.
- before the third appointment, I asked for an outgoing goods inspection – unsuccessfully, because at the third appointment no one was able to look at the washbasin beforehand again: replacement basin defective; installation not possible
- at the fourth appointment, the craftsmen try to remove the old washbasin – they can’t get it off and then say they would also have to replace the cabinet (which is not included). No replacement possible.
At least a replacement washbasin which is okay has now been standing in the garage for two months. However, no one from Ikea gets back to me anymore. Have they forgotten me?
When I sent the whole thing to Ikea’s management asking to refund the cabinet including the washbasin and just leave me in peace (believe it or not, I have a job on the side and have no time to deal with such unnecessary things), I only received another call from Ikea asking to arrange another appointment.
Conclusion: The washbasin with cabinet was not cheap, about 500 euros, the additional costs and time spent until now are irreplaceable!!! If I had chosen a 1000 euro model from a sanitary specialist dealer, I would have been cheaper and of higher quality. This will not happen to me again.
The service at Ikea is an outrage!
Especially since I alone have spent over 8,000 euros there this year.
The replacement washbasin still stands in my basement after already four completed, unsuccessful repair attempts. Let’s see what other surprises Ikea has planned and above all what will break during the removal.
I will report.
