As a complement to our kitchen, we put together a kitchen island at Ikea and so far the assembly has gone smoothly, but now we are stuck. The back panel for the Metod carcass is specified as the panel from Förbättra; it can be attached perfectly on the side of the carcass, but how should we attach the back panels? I screw a small metal sheet (available at the hardware store) to the bottom of the corpus. I let it protrude about 10 mm so that the cover side can rest on it. At the top, I use short screws with washers and screw them through the mounting bracket. To ensure the cover side also rests against the bottom of the corpus, I screw an angle bracket on the inside of the lower corners. Pay attention to the screw length. The cover sides are 13 mm thick, the back wall 2.5 mm, and the bracket about 1 mm. Using 10 mm long screws is a safe choice.
