Hello everyone,

I am currently dealing with the painful transition from Faktum to Metod. We are "unfortunately" owners of a Faktum kitchen with Applad fronts, which I am now painstakingly trying to supplement due to an upcoming move. I have already been scouring Ebay Classifieds for individual pieces, but the whole thing turns out to be very tedious. Therefore, I am looking for experienced Ikea fans who have actually tested the compatibility of both systems in practice. You often just get the standard answer: it doesn’t work... but I am currently trying to explore what is actually possible! Especially since visually the Veddinge fronts are said to match Applad really well!

I have read that, for example, the pull-out wire baskets and presumably also the inner drawers are supposed to fit into the Faktum carcasses. You just can’t use the pre-drilled rows of holes but have to shift the rails a bit further back (I haven’t tried it myself yet, though).

Are there any fellow users here who have already combined Faktum carcass and Metod fronts? What about the drawer system? Has the entire system changed or just the front dimensions? I would also find it interesting how the door hinges look. Visually, from the pictures, they already look very similar, and Rationell hinges are hardly to be found anymore! It would also be interesting if anyone has ever tried to use the Utrusta drawer fitting set to repurpose a Faktum door as a drawer front...

I look forward to any experience shared

Hi, since the grid width and afaik also the thickness of the side panels have remained the same, the "innards" of Faktum should also fit into Metod. But adjust the position of all the drill holes? To be honest, I would rather bite the bullet and buy a new kitchen and try to sell the old one. You can take over the appliances anyway and the countertop probably has to be new anyway. I would only put myself through the hassle of remodeling if there is no other way.... Best regards, Andreas

That was also our thought, but unfortunately we couldn't get rid of them at a somewhat reasonable price and then just drop nearly 2000 euros on new furniture... I'd rather do some remodeling work. It is probably a temporary solution because we plan to build and then presumably no Ikea kitchen will be used in the new home. Still, in the meantime, you want to have a reasonable solution...

That's why the question about people who have already tried it themselves and don't think it's too much work.

Oh, and what does ALL drill holes mean? I don't consider the few new holes for drawer rails to be such a huge effort.

Several holes for one drawer that is supposed to run smoothly? I think, that is already extra work - my husband wouldn’t hit me, but he would be really mad. How about trying it out with one first and then buying more afterwards?

I hope you are not planning wire baskets for your kitchen... we have some in our utility room unit, they are practical, but I wouldn’t want them in the kitchen

the parts that you put into the cabinets are standardized, aren't they?! the rows of holes are 32mm, the front row of holes 37mm from the front, etc... don't you still get spare parts at ikea?

So Faktum uses 32-row perforations and the first row of holes has a distance of 27 mm from the front. The Metod hole rows no longer have a 32 mm spacing and the first hole row starts at 37 mm. Therefore, you have to drill some holes yourself. With an angle, that should not be a problem.
