Hello,
I am new here and looking forward to your answers. I used the search function but found nothing regarding my specific concern.
My goal: I would like to store my CDs and DVDs in a shelf with drawers so that they do not visually ruin the living room but are quickly accessible. When the drawers are pulled out, the label on the case should be readable.
What I already have: a Besta shelf with a height of 64cm and 3x the Inreda drawer with built-in semi-transparent front, as well as CD and DVD mats.
My story: I was at Ikea and actually wanted the new Inreda drawers without built-in front for the Besta shelf. According to the consultant, these should have exactly the right height to accommodate CDs and DVDs. Unfortunately, I realized in the store that the height of the drawers is not sufficient to store CDs and DVDs (at least not in the lower or upper drawer). Then I saw the Inreda drawers with built-in front, which I did not like at least visually. Now comes the strange part. I saw exactly my Besta shelf there and it had 4 of these drawers installed. I bought three. There weren’t any more. Now at home, I had to realize that there are some problems even with these drawers: 1. You cannot use the full depth if you leave no gap. But that doesn’t look good at all. 2. I don’t understand how you can fit 4 of these in a Besta 64 and if you do, you no longer have height for the DVDs.
Aside from that, the width of the Besta shelf is not necessarily perfectly designed for DVDs. Also, film Blu-rays have different dimensions again...
My questions: 1) What was IKEA thinking? Where is the concept there? 2) What would be the best solution for me? 3) Can I somehow solve the problem with the drawers without the included front? I would be satisfied with three drawers that should then be fully usable for DVDs.
