How was it again with the proprietary systems?

Correct. There was exactly this example recently and that’s why I mentioned it. I also wrote at the beginning that devices from this one manufacturer can be intercepted with other systems. The example is of course not 100% conclusive in this case, but it illustrates what can happen. And that’s exactly what I wanted to put up for discussion here, since you often read doubts here that manufacturers actually do such things at all.

Well, I didn't want to offend you directly. Since I myself rely on KNX, I probably have no special reason. That manufacturers discontinue some products in the growth market "Smart Home" is unavoidable. Osram in particular generally has structural problems. But now fundamentally bashing proprietary systems is simply unnecessary.

Yes, history repeats itself. Many came and went.

There will continue to be some coming and going - which is why I fundamentally advise making decisions not at the level of "Brand X vs. Brand Y," but at the level of topology (star vs. bus) or architecture (distributed vs. centralized intelligence). This then significantly alleviates the procurement problem during retrofitting, when you "only" have to swap components without all the "buried" cables becoming worthless.

You don't have to justify spending tens of thousands of euros on a gadget. Others buy vintage cars or spend the money in the brothel, all of which are allowed.

The craftsmen who have been in my house so far looked pretty confused, the tiler didn’t want to believe me that a switch works behind the tile. The Miniserver was now reissued after 10 years of unchanged hardware, which is a sign of sustainability and quality. Back then, Tree and Air were not even a topic. And if you think about it a bit, during the expansion it is always possible to retrofit to Dali and KNX. I’m ordering 2 more lamps, so I still have some as spare, and the Tree Extension is not that expensive either. The system is so mature, why should they go bankrupt?
