Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the lighting for my single-family house.
What is the best way to approach this?
How do I know, for example, how many spots I need in the hallway?

Thanks and best regards
Herbert

Planning lighting? You have concerns... First of all, there should be an electrical connection for lighting in every room.

What do you mean by that? It's part of building a house, isn't it?

Sure, it belongs to it. But who is supposed to answer the question? It primarily depends on what the individual wants. How are we supposed to know your preferences? If you want stadium lighting in the hallway, put in 10 spots. If you want dim lighting, put in only two. I personally planned only one room - the living/dining area, so the lamps would later hang mostly where the tables are. It didn't really help, because in the end everything was arranged differently than planned, but so what. I didn’t bother with more planning. In every room there is a standard connection and then the appropriate lamp goes on the ceiling. Done.

This is exactly where it gets difficult. How am I supposed to know how many spots with how many watts make up a "normal" lighting? So neither stadium nor dim lighting?

As a rough rule of thumb, you can say lumens times square meters. In public areas, for example, 100 lux are required in corridors. So if you have a 10 sqm corridor, you need 1000 lumens to reach about 100 lux. The lumen value is always indicated on the packaging of the light bulbs. Just so you know: A 9-watt energy-saving bulb has about 400 lumens.
