Huh? Well, you don’t have to pay back the tax savings from the last X years. And you don’t have to pay back the Riester subsidy. It’s a difference of several thousand euros, I would estimate. The wohnförderkonto is not an unfair act of discrimination. It is much more an attempt at a fair balance. The taxes you have to pay in old age for your contributions weren’t paid in your youth (during the accumulation phase). You (hopefully) declared your contract in your tax return and thereby reduced your taxable income -> got money back. In old age, you then have to tax it, assuming that a) you have a lower tax rate then and accordingly pay less b) you have the option to pay off the thing all at once with a 30% discount. That’s the theory. Again, it shows what a failure the Wohn-Riester product was. I bet that of the people who took one out, not even 1% really understood it (or have forgotten how it works after all these years).ok. but what use is it to me if I still have the wohnförderkonto with vacke?
