The thing with the treasure trove is correct. Don’t forget to bring tools; some cars are not exactly grateful for an assembled 80x60x80 base cabinet...
Every customer service handles spare parts differently, but I don’t think the steel struts for the base cabinet are orderable individual parts. I needed 40cm wide struts for my own construction and simply bought the cheapest carcass that had them. And then, as expected, I was able to saw out four instead of just two "top sides" from only one carcass because the side panels are exactly symmetrical at the bottom and top, including the rows of holes. This is in response to your question about how interchangeable/rotatable the parts from Metod Modular are. See pictures so you know why I wanted that:

As for the back panels, I previously thought: there is no difference between top and bottom or tall cabinet yes/no. But it does depend on the width of the cabinet. And it applies: only the 80cm carcasses have two-part back panels (for packaging reasons). By the way, they are not rotatable, so you will have to saw the back panels including cutouts very precisely, but if you measure exactly and work carefully, that is also perfectly possible with a jigsaw.
