Yes, we laid tiles, painted (including sanding and filling the ceiling), and did the 900 cubic meters of excavation ourselves. (For the excavation, however, we still had an excavator and trucks involved ) I had about 4 weeks of vacation for it.

Oh wow, you really got a lot done in that time Our general contractor is very motivated, so Christmas would actually be feasible. My husband still has plenty of vacation left as well. Hope Corona doesn't throw a wrench in our plans

Yes, well, many things of course also on weekends and after work. The 4 weeks were actually completely for laying tiles!

With us: 02/2019 - Land commitment from the municipality 05/2019 - Land purchase contract 08/2019 - House purchase contract GU 11/2019 - Plans submitted - building authority 01/2020 - Building permit 04/2020 - Construction start 05/2020 - Shell construction completed ....... let's see how it continues - thanks to Corona It depends a lot on you and how urgently you want to start. The approval usually takes 3 months (BW). With us, the planning phase took quite long because we often changed things until we found the optimum (for us). My recommendation: "do not plan under time pressure". Many ideas and wishes come weeks after you think "this fits now".

Just ask some builders from the district and call yourself, then you won’t experience any nasty surprises.

After submitting the building application to the building authority, the processing there alone takes a good 6 months. Afterwards, the home builder usually gets another 2 months of scheduling time until it finally starts at some point. Total construction time 2-3 years.
