House too big, what to do with the extra rooms?

Hello,
I probably have a typical single problem. I want to buy a house and actually have one in mind. But like most houses, this one is also too big. I would then have 3 rooms and 2 bathrooms "left over." Also, a 40 sqm utility room. On the ground floor, I can well imagine tearing down a wall and connecting the bathroom with the kitchen to get a larger kitchen. But since the house is listed, that probably won't be possible, right?

Otherwise, everything fits with the house, and since I generally only search in an area of about 20,000 inhabitants and still want a large garden plus an outbuilding, it is also very unlikely to find a small house.

So what do you do with too much space?

Best regards, Chris

We both have the same "problem" :D However, my wife and I wanted it that way. We are making: - Table football room (oh yes :D) - Sports room - Workshop Now you would still have at least two bathrooms left... Sauna? I might also build an alcohol room with wine racks on all the walls and two old leather couches and a humidor in the middle :p:p:p

We also have 3 rooms "left over" - for us, it is a Lego room, a storage room with a long wall of cupboards and sports equipment, and a guest room with an ironing station

Especially the number of bathrooms might perhaps allow subletting?

If rooms are not used, you just lock them up. You "only" have to ensure that everything is in order in the unused rooms as well (for example, these rooms also need to be ventilated and heated as necessary in winter).
