Hello, we now have a semi-detached house with about 130 sqm + basement for 4 people, but it is definitely too small for us. Our future house will be about 230 sqm but without a basement

Our old building apartment with 5 rooms has about 100 m². Very spacious, ceiling height 3 m. The washing machine is in the apartment, and there is also a gas boiler on the wall in the kitchen. This works because the separate (!) toilet and the bathtub bathroom are very (!) small. It is exhausting to bathe the children... There is also a cellar.

Therefore, I would assume at least 115 m², plus cellar, attic, terrace, garage. The floor plan is decisive.

We live as four people in 70 m² Okay, but that's not so great and hopefully will end soon. It really depends a lot on the layout and the feeling, but also on one's own living philosophy. Rough bottom-up: 12 sqm children's room 1, 12 sqm children's room 2, 14 sqm bedroom, 8 sqm bathroom, 8 sqm kitchen, 12 sqm dining, 22 sqm living, 8 sqm utility room, 2 sqm WC, 16 sqm hallways and entrance --> 115 m² What is smaller in the house? Would that bother you?

Morning, with my parents and my brother, 120 sqm plus half a basement was more than enough back then. In two, three months the house will be moved into. We have 150 sqm without a basement and with a small utility room. The rooms are bigger, yet I already miss an office to "hide stuff". It really depends a lot on the floor plan. For example, I have the feeling that due to our open layout on the ground floor we really have too little storage space. Cheers, torsan

We are also currently considering the right size. At the moment, we are looking at about 160sqm for 4 people, possibly plus another child.

We would like to build without a basement because of the costs.
Could you possibly post your floor plan [EveundGerd]?

That would be great.

Ultimately, the "required" size of the house depends on the size of the wallet. A house with 105 / 115 sqm and a good layout is much cheaper than if it were 30 sqm larger. Four people can certainly manage with the "smaller" houses. In any case, it is better than feeling the monthly burdens as such because of a few extra square meters.
