Hello everyone,
we are planning an electronic door lock for our garage side entrance door. It should work especially with Apple Watch but also with a code.
The door will be a Hörmann door. However, the representative told me that Hörmann only offers such functionality for official front doors. Can you confirm that?
He alternatively offered me an electric opener. But I actually consider that unnecessary and also problematic regarding the "permanent opening."

My idea now was to take a completely normal "analog" door and then retrofit it directly with Nuki 3.0 Pro. I don't need to consider anything for the Nuki system at this point in time, right?
What do you think of this solution? Has anyone planned something similar or already implemented it?

Now Nuki is a tricky thing...

You have to know what you are getting into with this product, and the concerns are not unfounded.

    [*]Technical problems
    [*]Break-in by hackers
    [*]Dead batteries
    [*]everything else

If you can live with that, then go for it...

I have a Nuki myself.

If it’s not a super special custom door, you don’t have to consider much. The Nukis fit practically everywhere. The lock cylinder should meet one condition. I can’t think of the technical term right now. Double-sided turning or something like that. The Nuki is attached inside onto the inserted key. So you should choose one where you can still unlock from the other side even with the key inserted.

Battery, yes you have to change it roughly every 3 months depending on frequency of use. But it is indicated. There is a battery pack that makes it last a bit longer.

Burglary/hacker yeah… according to my research, someone would have to put in some effort; I don’t think it’s that simple to hack. And anyone who wants to get into your house deliberately usually gets in easier another way. I admit I also have a burglary alarm system, so maybe you look at it differently.

I haven’t really had any technical problems yet. What system does your main entrance door have?

We also want to use a Nuki 3.0 Pro for our front door.
