It simplifies understanding if you refer to the assembly instructions. There are 2 corner base cabinets. I assume you mean the 90x90 and are having trouble with step 15 of the assembly instructions. Violence is out of place here. On the contrary, you need to do it gently. First, place the hinge leaf on the mounting plate at an angle. I estimate about a 30° angle. Make sure that the bolt drawn with a dashed line is lying in the groove of the mounting plate. Then press the hinge leaf onto the mounting plate at the back. It will then click into place.

Attach the small "pin" and then push the hinge backwards? Or do you have to "hook" the upper part somewhere onto the lower part?

The parts in the circles belong together. It is not the same hinge, but in principle, it is the same. Just press down at the front and it works. Sometimes you may have to use a bit of force because it can be very difficult the first time you push it in.
