Thank you. Learned something new again. But does the signature on a loan agreement for spouses make any difference regarding recourse in case of a payment default?

Nice that we have cleared that up

I have one more question as a layperson regarding construction costs: can/should you already start making initial inquiries with construction companies, even though you don't have a plot yet? Or will they laugh at you if you show up without a plot and without a development plan? We already have a rough idea of what is allowed to be built there from an information event (2 full floors + flat roof, max. height 6.90 m).

We mainly have only a rough idea from reading various construction forums and diaries about what a house according to our ideas is supposed to cost. But if we only find out after buying the plot that such a house costs from 200,000 euros upwards, then we have a problem.

What are your experiences?

Some sales consultants are just less committed. We decided afterwards for the one who took us seriously, accepted our "pending" situation, and then we personally decided on a contract with a right of withdrawal (missing land, in our case a very special one we had in prospect) without his pressure. We played with open cards but he still invested many hours.

How many square meters should the single-family house have in the end?

Rhenish greetings

: so you also spoke with construction companies without a plot? How many actually responded to your request? Have you already finished building? Did the cost estimate back then correspond to the actual construction costs? Did you have to pay anything for the initial offer?

: as mentioned at the beginning, it should be about 120-130 sqm, we can hardly afford more with our budget.
