It’s the same with us. Mostly little to no interest in the house. And with the children, it’s partly similar as well. We therefore plan everything on our own and through companies and craftsmen. But I have to say, I do wish for help now and then. Especially when we have to go to important appointments with all five children, or the paying baby musically accompanies bank appointments [emoji85].Your description isn’t that off-topic. Without interest and support from the family, you can’t make your own contribution.
There is no interest from my wife’s side, they don’t listen when it comes to scheduling, and none of them will help either. Strangely enough, it worked with her sisters two years ago. They got weekends off, etc. With us, it’s just “you’ll manage it.” Unfortunately, this also applies to the children. And then, outrageously, they even ask if we are planning with a guest room. My wife suffers a lot from the unfairness and sees that my parents really want to help and would even be willing to live with us for several weeks (at least my father) to be the “site manager, painter, paperhanger, and floor layer.”
P.S. We planned without a guest room.
