Hello everyone

We have a separate, lockable room without heating in our basement, which we have renovated this year so that it is suitable as a children's playroom. But now the cold season is coming, and the room also needs to be heated a bit. The temperature in winter has so far been around 10°.

The room is about 3.5 x 5.5 m large (20 m2), and it should be possible to heat it quickly and spontaneously. I have done some research and came across infrared or warm air blowers. Against infrared speaks the (purchase) costs, as the room will certainly not be used daily, but in favor is the pleasant warmth.

Does anyone have any further inputs on how I can best quickly warm up this room?

Thank you very much for your tips

Regards René

Hello Bergbau

Exactly against infrared speak the high acquisition costs. A radiator would also be an option, although the energy costs are also high. But a gas heater would also be a good alternative.

The previous writer has already mentioned quite a few things. Electric heaters are out of the question for me. The costs are simply too high. I can well imagine a gas heater. Or you integrate the basement into an existing heating system.

I have serious concerns about a gas-based heater in a basement room – fresh air = breathable air must absolutely be supplied, otherwise sadness is inevitable! The exhaust gas with the CO2 and water vapor makes the indoor climate unbearable.

So a heating gas heater is not suitable for the basement. There is simply not enough fresh air. For children, this can be life-threatening.

We also faced this problem and diverted a pipe from the boiler return flow and installed a suitable radiator in the room. From my point of view, this is a good option.
