By "cheap" I meant rather poorly insulated... still, thanks for the hint ;-) Whoever removes and transports this heat pump unnoticed will surely win the first prize at AGT Our heat pump from AI only cost 17K including installation back in 2021.

State Building Code RLP:

9) Adjacent to property boundaries, the following may be constructed without setback areas or with a reduced depth of setback areas

    [*]1.
    Garages without fireplaces,
    [*]2.
Buildings and facilities for local supply of electricity, gas, and water and
    [*]3.
other buildings without habitable rooms and fireplaces

if they are on the property boundaries or at a distance of up to 3 m from the property boundaries

    [*]a)
do not exceed an average wall height of 3.20 m above ground level,
    [*]b)
do not exceed a length of 12 m along a property boundary, and
    [*]

    [*]c)
have roofs pitched no more than 45º towards the property boundary; gables on the property boundary must not exceed a height of 4 m above ground level.

In other words, heat pumps as heating are allowed, anything that requires a chimney is not. Electricity and water are unproblematic.

We solved that very inelegantly: The router is connected to a simple timer switch that cuts power to it for 10 minutes at 3 a.m. Since then, no manual restart has been necessary.

Why connect a router to a timer switch? If a restart is often necessary, you should fix the cause, not the symptom! Those who still have VDSL can get problems with the DLM due to regular restarts, which automatically reduces the speed. My router runs continuously for months.

I see it exactly the same way. In about 1.5 years, my router required 2 forced disconnections due to updates or malfunctions. I had no choice regarding the router (well, I actually had a small choice, because I chose a business connection with a FritzBox Cable instead of a private plan with a junk router. The only provider here: Vodafone with gas fiber/FTTH) and I am partly dependent on disconnecting the router from the power supply during firmware updates or longer malfunctions. But actually, I would not accept this if it were regularly necessary.

I wouldn't worry about someone removing the heat pump. The question is whether it is even wise to install it there. My underlying thought was this. We only planned a small technical room in the house (approx. 6 sqm) and from there an access to the extension (approx. 18 sqm). The extension is of course insulated differently and unheated. The system in the technical room already takes up a lot of space of the 6 sqm, so I thought maybe it could also be placed in the extension. Whether that is allowed is, from my point of view, now clarified. The remaining question is whether it should be done that way or if there are valid reasons against it? I simply don't know anything about it and just want to explore the possibilities before someone asks me later: "Why didn't you put the thing in the extension?".
