EXACTLY!!! That’s why we sleep with the air conditioning every night... and have been doing so for many years on vacation! And most vacationers (in air-conditioned hotels) are, of course, ALL constantly sick!!!

Humans become more susceptible to illness when they are cold. Not because of the cold itself. And cooling down certain body parts (usually the neck and ears) can promote the development of local infections. But you don't have to have the air conditioning so cold, and the airflow not directly on the sensitive areas, right?

I better just ignore the silly popular belief...

Sure, you’re right in that you don’t catch a cold just from cold itself, the name is misleading. Allegedly, no one has ever caught a cold in Antarctica, the air there is simply germ-free. You can freeze to death wonderfully well there, but at least healthily and without a cold!

What I personally find unpleasant is too large a temperature difference between inside and outside. So 35 degrees outside and cooled down to 20 degrees inside. If you then come into the house all sweaty and start to shiver, you’re easy prey. Especially if you have small children who bring bacteria and viruses home from daycare/kindergarten that would make every biological weapons manufacturer turn green with envy…

Someone who stays alone all the time in an air-conditioned room will not get sick, that’s true. But they still have the problem that the wife pulls the big winter pajamas out of the closet…

Have fun with your air conditioner!

Best regards,

Andreas

As mentioned.. no one has gotten sick from the air conditioning here. Despite two toddlers in the daycare... they only get sick in winter and the air conditioning is off then..

We currently have WITHOUT air conditioning WITHOUT geothermal heat exchanger for the controlled residential ventilation the following values:
Ground floor approx. 20.5 °C (utility room approx. 21 °C)
Upper floor approx. 21.5 °C
Attic approx. 22 °C (2 small windows on the gables without shading)

Construction site: Unterfranken (near Kitzingen )

In the current heat, we ventilate every night.

Due to the excessive cross-ventilation at night, we have currently turned off the controlled residential ventilation
(Although it switches to KRG mode when the outside air becomes warmer than inside and the air does not really become warmer)

Built with 42.5 cm Ytong without additional insulation + external venetian blinds and in the attic on- and in-between rafter insulation.
Plastered with lime plaster, which stores moisture very well
The humidity fluctuates depending on night ventilation between 55 and 70 % (walls still need to "dry" a bit)

I do not miss any air conditioning or other gadgets
Everyone who enters the house is amazed at the good climate.

:
How is the humidity with air conditioning in your place, actually? In the car, for example, it makes the air very dry.

One should maybe write where one lives, because here it wouldn't be 20 degrees anymore in your house either. Many greetings from the extremely hot southwest!!!
