Has the underfloor heating been tested before installing the new parquet?

Hello

we have bought an apartment (built in 2005) with underfloor heating (gas). The old parquet is being removed and new flooring is being installed. Of course, we could not test the underfloor heating. Does it make sense to somehow have the underfloor heating checked? Or is something like that not testable at all? I just mean, if something is defective, it would be better to know before laying new flooring than afterwards.

Thank you.

No? When did you visit? The heaters are still running in part even now. There are two topics. First, the heating system. You can turn it on and see if it works. Or check when the chimney sweep came or when the last maintenance was done. And then there is the underfloor heating. These are endlessly laid pipes that start at the heating circuit manifold and end there as well. "Testing" is simple. Either the pipes are tight or not - it's digital. If the floor is currently dry while there is water in the underfloor heating, the pipes are tight too. Test passed. Whether the heating is well adjusted is another matter. So don’t worry.

What about possible weak points that might cause leaks in the future after installation? Is it somehow testable beforehand?

The underfloor heating is tested during installation. Otherwise, you have a daily test - if the floor gets wet, it is leaking.
You can have the heating pressure-tested again at most. Other than that, there are absolutely no further testing options.

However, there is also no reason to want to test further here. Once you start questioning a fairly new installation, you have to check every water pipe, sewage pipe, every electrical cable in the walls, etc. = tear it out.

Normally, the underfloor heating pipes are tested after the pipes have been laid and before the screed is applied. There is also a protocol from the heating engineer for this – maybe it can still be found in a file folder (if you received something during the purchase)?

If you really want to, you can repeat the test. You need to connect a pressure pump to the heating circuit distributor, close the supply/return to the heating system, then build up the test pressure accordingly and maintain it for, for example, 24 hours while recording the pressure loss. After that, however, the installation must be properly refilled and vented.
