Good evening,
we need help with the design of our entrance area. Somehow it lacks a bit of flair, so that our wishes are taken into account but it also makes sense and doesn’t turn out ordinary.
In terms of space, we are not dependent on having a meter more or less since the plot is big enough and will be built according to 34 (the surrounding houses are similar or much bigger). Of course, we don’t want to build unnecessarily large just for the sake of being big and basically throwing money out the window. The architect has already drawn the plans this way, but unfortunately he mostly just replicates our ideas and does not really contribute himself. That’s why we are now trying to realize it on our own terms, the way we like it.
We would therefore be grateful if you could take a look at our floor plan and of course we would be happy about ideas!

Here are perhaps our thoughts about what is important to us:
- inviting / open / bright entrance area
- generous wardrobe
- separate basement stairs at the side entrance (since no outdoor stairs are desired)
- open living area, the kitchen should “belong to it” but can also be closed off by large glass sliding doors when needed
- above the sofa there should be an open space, so that the area becomes higher and the windows extend over 2 floors
- window seat
- kitchen with seating option and kitchen island, short paths to the pantry
- the house should have corners, we don’t like it just square
- the garage is located in the north near the side entrance.
Since we are not yet sure about the ground floor, I am not posting the other floors yet. But there are already drafts for those.
As an explanation: the corner at the kitchen unit will only be built on the ground floor, half masonry and the upper part will be glass.
I would be very happy about feedback.
Best regards
Flugi

House Design
Who is responsible for the planning:
- Architect
- Do-it-yourself

What do you particularly like? Why?
Separate basement stairs, close to the side entrance, since no exterior stairs are desired but children and dogs etc. are present; it is not intended as a "dirt sluice" that one must walk through the house to reach the basement.
- generous, bright rooms
- the living area should somehow be open yet separable, therefore glass sliding doors will be installed. We want to avoid it looking like a tunnel.

What do you not like? Why?
Entrance area possibly too large, what ideas are there to make it bright and open, with enough space but not too large?
The staircase should be an eye-catcher with glass, how to place it most sensibly?
Price estimate according to architect/planner: -
Personal price limit for the house, including equipment: approx. 850,000 + / -
Preferred heating technology: -

If You Have to Do Without, which details/expansions
- you can do without:
- you cannot do without:

Why has the design become what it is now? E.g.
Standard design from the planner?
Corresponding/which wishes were implemented by the architect?
A mix of many examples from various magazines...
What makes it particularly good or bad in your eyes?

That would be complete nonsense! Why not stop! A new architect who shows that he can also build you such a house nicely? That sounds to me like a good architect or interior designer might make sense in order to actually get a beautiful house with a consistent style and not just a big block.

The budget is decent but not for a house with the floor area.

Considering one floor makes no sense.

Why these extremely large rooms? Even on your ground floor alone, a family of five has enough space.
Why the separate staircase?

How can an architect supposedly only copy but at the same time make the house larger than intended by the clients?

Can you please explain why you want the basement stairs to be separate? Do all dirty arrivals have to go to the basement first?

Your entrance/wardrobe area is huge, I think a lot of space is wasted there.
