Hi everyone,

we are thinking a bit about how to ideally make our cabinets in the bedroom under the sloping roof.

We have space on both sides of the dormer for a long cabinet each for each of us. Built-in cabinets are not an option for now, as we would have to spend between 6-8,000 €. They are certainly worth that. However, that would exceed the budget.

With Ikea Platsa we could optimally use the space. However, we do not find the quality of the cabinets very convincing – besides, it lacks the large selection of interior fittings like with Pax.

PAX would also be possible. Here you would have to shorten carcasses and doors to be able to use the space under the slope. No idea if that works well. Anyone has experience with that?

Otherwise, the online cabinet planners are also very expensive and thus out.

Does anyone have alternative tips?

You have space respectively to the right and left according to the plan.

I would pursue the approach of placing PAX carcasses with content there, cutting them as needed, and then planning vertical blinds in front of them. In 2 sections for the straight part and the part with the sloping roof.
So, about 150 cm of PAX in normal height, then about 100 to 150 cm of PAX gradually cut down, and at the end perhaps just shelves or free space for suitcases, etc.
Simply plan the niche to 70 cm depth, then a vertical blind can run comfortably in front of it.

The sloping part, for example (also not more expensive than PAX doors):

Have you ever planned a wardrobe on meinschrank or something similar? The built-in wardrobes aren't that expensive. I especially like meinemöbelmanufaktur because you can also see a 3D view there. I'm also interested in whether you can shorten a Pax. Does the door still look good then?

Do you like PAX? It is very easy to cut and adapt to the angles. The carcasses are made of "cardboard" on the inside, but that's still okay. Take a good circular saw with a long guide rail and angle. Only the mirror door I would not shorten.

Pax can really be cut to size and adapted to sloping ceilings without any problems. We had that in our previous rental apartment (attic) as well. If you are unsure, I would first just buy a bare frame, cut it to size, and see how you manage with it and if you like the result.

We have Ivar: with a bit of tinkering, the dimensions fit very well. Above under the slope, there is more storage space for boxes and bowls. Integrated are the drawers from Malm. All painted white in advance and always changeable if necessary. You could also put curtains in front or something like that. For us, it is bare in a chamber. I admit: I would still like proper cabinets, but it is a not insignificant cost factor – other things take priority.
