Hello,

we are currently planning the floors in our house and are considering whether we can lay and glue part of the parquet ourselves. What are your experiences?

The parquet is click parquet as LHD in 1.90 m * 19 cm, 15mm high.

We want to glue it because of the impact sound insulation and the better walking feel. Craftsman-wise, we don’t necessarily have two left hands and have already laid floating floors several times.

I look forward to your opinion. Mad74

If you already have experience with floating installation, it is only half as bad.
- Pay attention to the laying direction; on glued floors you should not step on it, unlike floating ones.
- The subfloor should be clean and as level as possible (especially with L=1.9m).
- Otherwise, prepare the subfloor first with leveling compound.
- There are different click systems. Most are clicked in from above. The adhesive is applied to the subfloor there and distributed with a fine notched trowel (tile adhesive trowel).
But there are also click systems that are pressed in from the side (e.g. bamboo from Joka), where a tapping block and spacers are needed (e.g. from a laminate installation kit), and to avoid mess, apply the adhesive carefully on the underside of your plank instead of on the subfloor. If anything gets on the side, wipe it off immediately with a damp cloth.

Thank you AOLNCM. I think I will try that, it doesn't seem that complicated. I will start in the dressing room, then I have a few square meters to practice.

I would like to make a few additional remarks

which requires you to pay attention to some important points:
Substrate:
- must have sufficient strength
- must be dry
- must be clean and dust-free
- should not absorb too much (if necessary, prime)
- must be level

Adhesive:
- ideally, the adhesive should be suitable for the flooring material and the substrate. The correct notched trowel is also important here. The product information for adhesives also indicates the appropriate notch size of the trowel, which you should pay attention to.

Tools:
- when gluing, it is important to have everything ready that you need, because the installation may need to proceed quickly.

Installation:
- when gluing, it is important to precisely align the room first. Be sure to measure how many rows of parquet you need. The planks at the beginning and end should be approximately the same width.
- The first 2-3 rows should be laid dry first. The first row should be adjusted to the wall if it is uneven. Then apply the adhesive only as wide as the planks are prepared.
- Pay attention to temperature and humidity.

If you observe these (not entirely complete) points and the manufacturers' processing guidelines, nothing should stand in the way of success.
