Dear builders,
yesterday the excavators arrived at our site, which is why the excitement is growing.
We are building a single-family house with 167 sqm on 1 1/2 floors and individual contracting. So far, there have been no problems with the planning, offers, or execution meetings. One item still open is the railing solution for our internal (open to the kitchen) concrete staircase.
Since the entire style of the house will be modern, we imagine a solution with glass railings and handrails. A stainless steel handrail is to be installed on the inner wall.
The open side towards the staircase should receive a glass balustrade running parallel to the staircase.

Appointments with metalworkers are currently difficult to get because everyone is fully booked and the selection is also limited. The local glazier has already declined and referred us to the metalworker. Next week I will expand the range of my inquiries.

Now to the core of my thread:
- Could you provide me with pictures of your glass railings to complement our (primarily Pinterest-based) idea generation with “real” solutions?
- Can you give us an idea of the cost at which you managed the purchase and installation?

For better understanding, I am also attaching the floor plans to my request.

Thank you very much in advance!

*We means my wife and me.

Since nothing further has come up here, I’m giving a small input on our ideas.

Of course, our area is significantly shorter. We prefer an externally mounted stainless steel rail to the point fixing of the glass.
In the picture, however, the externally mounted stainless steel rail on the glass is too prominent.

In the second picture, it almost looks like a plastic rail. It’s not bad, but I don’t know if it would be a permanent solution.

Maybe this impulse will help to get one or two real images.

Best regards

I also find the railing too bulky.

If we ourselves had an open staircase, the glass would extend up to the ceiling.

That would then be solution 3, but I don't know how open it would still appear. It shouldn't turn into an aquarium.

I only know this from straight stairs and it looks very nice there.

What speaks against taking the glass without a rail, just with a polished edge? Or as an upgrade, there is also the option with a white edge, that is without the green tint of the glass.

There is nothing against that per se, we are still open-minded about the results.
That is why there is the topic.

Do you mean the rail at the top? I imagine that looks really good; normally, the safety glass should also be safe against chipping edges, as long as I don't throw heavy objects on it from above.
