I would like to install a garden water pump despite having a jungle in the garden.

We have a well drilling with a 1.5" suction pipe and a pressure pipe of the same size, which we need to reduce to 1 1/4". The whole setup is located in the connection room in the basement, and since the fine installation is due soon, I would like to have the plumber handle it.

It should be used exclusively for garden water. What do you use for that? A pump with a small buffer tank? Just a pump? What kind of flow rates?

I am a bit helpless and would appreciate corresponding tips :)

Intake pipe? Pressure pipe? What kind of borehole do you have (depth, pipe)? How much water do you need = garden to be irrigated, which plants (bamboo, for example, needs a hell of a lot of water, for a rock garden a pipette is enough).

At least a buffer tank is unnecessary.

For comparison: We had a 4 1/2 inch well drilled and installed a 4 inch submersible pump there (the advantage is that the pump always stays in the water - even in winter. Furthermore, it does not have to suck like "normal" garden pumps). Volume output of max. 6 cubic meters per hour. The whole setup then in the garden with a 3/4 inch hose and appropriate nozzle. However, we also have to water 500 sqm of garden, but two to three sprinklers work very well simultaneously (automatic irrigation unfortunately does not exist yet).

With a wash well, you have a suction pipe - I mean, it is washed to a depth of about 7m. I have given the thickness - 1.5".

I don't know which plants we will have - probably among others bamboo. There will be automatic irrigation at the front/back, but we may have about 200-250 sqm of garden to irrigate.

Because it is a level system with a suction line, I thought a small, integrated buffer would be necessary - but I just don't know.

OK, understood.

The pump is then only connected to the suction pipe. I assume that the maximum deliverable amount of water is then manageable. 2-3 cbm per hour (what did the well driller say?), so it doesn't have to be a high-performance pump. Another interesting question is how deep it was flushed or from when water is available. This is important for the choice of the pump.

For the small garden, in my opinion, it is sufficient to look in the hardware store (regardless of whether AL-KO, Gardena, etc.). The type of well doesn't matter to the pump. In the old house, a €49 hardware store pump served almost 10 years, for a 150 sqm garden including bamboo.

I can definitely recommend a pressure switch (presscontrol or similar). Often integrated in domestic waterworks. This means that as soon as a consumer is turned on, the pump starts. Otherwise, you always have to turn it on manually.

Ah, exactly - with this pressure switch my father told me that I absolutely have to pay attention to it.

I only know that it was about 7m - and the invoice stated power of 1-7m³ :D. With the neighbors it seems to work very well anyway...

But definitely skip this small buffer at the pump?

We haven't had him for almost 13 years and haven't missed him. However, the pressure switch is an absolute MUST for convenience.
