There are certainly phases of life in which a seat 20 m away is impractical to difficult: toddler phase or old age, for example. In between, however, there are many years in which it is no practical problem to carry a tray 20 m. The question then is rather: is it worth it to me? Are you more of a pragmatic type or do you primarily want it to look nice? I find 20 m completely irrelevant if the beautiful evening sun is beckoning or a beautiful bush is in full bloom. But again, that is something only each person can decide for themselves.

However, you also point out a critical issue. If you don't happen to drive a pickup, transporting grass/leaves quickly reaches its limits with just a car, especially when there's already a lot for a compost. And you first have to have a trailer or borrow one from a neighbor; furthermore, you need a trailer hitch on the car. There's a bit more involved than just dropping it off.

Just throwing one trailer full of grass directly onto your own compost will be an attack on your nose and teaches the suppression of the gag reflex. You need enough dry material to mix in, otherwise you get rot and not a clean decomposition process.

I'm glad I barely have any grass clippings.

In my opinion, that is exactly the difference between good and average planning. The garden is the extended living room in summer. The better it is connected, the better you can use it. If you have to walk 20 meters for every cup of coffee, the average person will only use it sporadically. If you only have to fall over, you will always sit there.

You can also install a lawn robot and then only have very little grass clippings to dispose of.
