What kind of sh**ty system do they have? Were they badly advised?
Our system is from Graf, the simpler household water system we have is such that together with the pump there is a drinking water tank made of PE with about 10 liters capacity. This is always filled with drinking water; when the cistern is empty, the water level sensor (mounted in the tank and the cable runs through the empty conduit into the utility room to the pump unit) switches over to drinking water supply.
This system is also marketed by other manufacturers (e.g., concrete plants that purchase the technical unit there).
Other systems that also operate fully automatically like ours are, for example, designed so that they do not have a drinking water tank at the pump but instead feed drinking water into the cistern (but also fully automatically).
