Hello
in my inquiry, I mentally assumed 5 x 10 meters (completely miscalculated )
However, I also consider 15 x 10 as well as 200 sqm to be very manageable when it comes to irrigation.
In my opinion, the "small size" of the area to be maintained is not in proportion to large technical measures or costs.
However, I have little solid knowledge of your planned technology.

That, however, is within the scope of an investment that one can always make.

Still, one should consider at 200 sqm whether anything needs to be automated at all. If it is just an area behind the house, then in my opinion, a quarter of an hour with a garden hose is sufficient.

The cistern is already there anyway, and it would be silly not to use it, whether with a garden hose or with an automatic irrigation system.

We have a technical pumping system hanging on the wall in the utility room for our cistern, but we also need it for the toilet/washing machines/faucet for cleaning water. For pure garden use, I have a separate submersible pump in the cistern, because otherwise every time the sprinkler operates or the children play with water in the garden, the pump unit runs for a long time, which is relatively loud.

And, Nordlichtchen, what are your experiences regarding costs for a submersible pump or for a [Hauswasserwerk]?

We bought a submersible pump (4 bar) for about 160 euros at the hardware store (7 years warranty). Since our property is divided into two parts (lawn and plants in the lower part, where the cistern is also located, and "large" garden in the upper area), we purchased an irrigation system from Gardena. However, nothing automatic. The irrigation system with 30 m hose, 2 water sockets / 2 water connections (1 for the cistern and 1 for the faucet), various connectors cost about 200 euros – with the 2 lawn sprinklers 260 euros.

Since we only partially connected it at the end of summer and have not yet completely laid it out, I cannot yet say what actual benefit it has. So far, we have used parts of the system for about 1 month for hose irrigation of the bed. It worked quite well. Switchable outdoor socket activated – pump kicked in and the water was there. Watered – done. Turning off the power – due to the slope from the upper garden, the hose empties again.

Currently, our 10 sqm cistern is at least filled to the top and ready for use.

Our neighbors also operate their toilet using cistern water. In summer, it was not uncommon for them to have to refill the cistern using a hose. I personally find that rather suboptimal.
