And one last question: I have very good legal protection insurance. Is construction law automatically included? Does anyone know?

Hi, you would have to check that, but I would say probably not, as this is very costly...

Usually not. But just give them a call. Maybe they also have a recommendation for a specialist lawyer in your area. Otherwise, check the Yellow Pages.

I'm currently working on it, but I rather assume that a standard private legal expenses insurance does not include that.

everything related to construction is 99% not covered by legal protection. even completely clear contract law matters are not covered if the purchased item somehow belongs to the house. (in our case, it was the entrance platform, where the company suddenly offered net instead of gross and wanted 20% more - so it had nothing to do with the house or anything else, purely a contract law question, yet they immediately said no - we got out of it because companies are required to quote private individuals the gross price...). it is different when it comes to neighborhood disputes. that can almost always be booked normally. but here it’s about you and an authority.

I am now wiser (Hotlines are sometimes very helpful!): no, it is not included. However, my insurance covers an extensive telephone (telephone only) consultation up to €250 and was able to name two specialist lawyers.

One is a large law firm in MUC (probably among the top 5) and the other a firm from my district, which, being specialized in construction law, presumably knows our district office. Well... what is now the smarter choice...
