French balconies on 17cm Ytong + 12cm insulation?

Hello everyone,

we are building with 17cm Ytong and 12cm insulation for KfW55. For the planned floor-to-ceiling windows, we have now been offered (expensive!) steel brackets on the outside of the house wall, to which the French balconies / fall protection are then to be attached.
- Isn't there a cheaper and nicer way to do this? Do you have any ideas? Happy to have links ;-)
The alternative would be to take windows with a fixed bottom part :rolleyes:

It just doesn't look nearly as nice as floor-to-ceiling windows with a French balcony. But I really can't imagine that there is no other solution!?

How far along are you with your construction and do you still have the possibility to change the wall structure? The current one combines the disadvantages of Ytong with those of an [WDVS], with little labor savings for the contractor and no other advantages. That's how something like this comes about.

If the floor-to-ceiling windows were already in the contract, that is not your problem at first. Floor-to-ceiling windows definitely require fall protection. If the general contractor forgot to calculate the fastening of this protection, that is his problem.

Or did you award everything yourselves?
