Flooring. Laminate, engineered parquet, vinyl? Where is the best place to buy?

Hello,

for our new single-family house, we are looking for the suitable floor coverings. On the ground floor, with a view of the entrance/terrace to the garden / wood stove, it is fixed: tiles. There will also be tiles in the basement. The house will have underfloor heating with an air-to-water heat pump.

Now we are considering what should go upstairs (bedrooms for children and us) as well as in the attic (gallery). I consider parquet problematic in playrooms, regardless of the price, but it should be uniform on the floor if possible and look like wood as much as possible as well as be a bit warm underfoot.

The price should be a maximum of €35/sqm and it should be installable as a DIY project. It should also match the solid walnut staircase.

What would you take/recommend? Laminate, cheaper engineered parquet, or even vinyl? And where is the best place to buy? Which manufacturers have a good reputation?

In this price range, there is no decent parquet and in the children's room it gets scratched anyway. Laminate is cold and loud. I would choose vinyl, it is quite warm, softer than laminate, and also looks very much like wood.

Best regards

We have vinyl from Parador. The first two months in the house, it has already withstood our two little ones without damage despite high activity. We are glad we did not choose parquet or laminate upstairs.

The parquet in the living room also shows no noticeable scratches so far and is easy to clean (oiled, very lively oak, Kährs Oyster) but it also cost over 70€/m2.

Please note that laminate and parquet tolerate minor unevenness, vinyl does not.

How is it with click vinyl then? There is also an impact sound insulation underneath, isn't there?

Click vinyl on HDF should not be a problem, right?
