Hello,
for our new single-family house, we are looking for the suitable floor coverings. On the ground floor, with a view of the entrance/terrace to the garden / wood stove, it is fixed: tiles. There will also be tiles in the basement. The house will have underfloor heating with an air-to-water heat pump.
Now we are considering what should go upstairs (bedrooms for children and us) as well as in the attic (gallery). I consider parquet problematic in playrooms, regardless of the price, but it should be uniform on the floor if possible and look like wood as much as possible as well as be a bit warm underfoot.
The price should be a maximum of €35/sqm and it should be installable as a DIY project. It should also match the solid walnut staircase.
What would you take/recommend? Laminate, cheaper engineered parquet, or even vinyl? And where is the best place to buy? Which manufacturers have a good reputation?
