Always draw the existing or desired furniture to scale in the floor plan.

Yes, I should do that. For example, the table in the dining room is drawn much larger than our table. Thanks for the tip.

If you are going to push anyway, I would convert the lock room into a pure storage room/pantry and plan a proper wardrobe in the entrance area. Especially the children often do not come into the house through the garage, but rather enter through the door. Even I often go in and out through the front door because it is shorter to empty the mailbox, one less door to bring in the groceries, etc.

Please note the clearance around tables. A minimum distance of 80 cm between the wall and the table edge is recommended. If the table is 100 cm wide, you need at least 260 cm, and even then everyone has to be slim or suck in their stomach.

Placing the table sideways is possible too and might even look better.

Hmm... That’s exactly why I wanted the airlock. Because we now have a normal wardrobe at the entrance and everything is always lying around. Feels like 1000 jackets and shoes often aren’t put away, and with the airlock I’d have all the shoes, work bags, jackets, etc. in there and it wouldn’t bother me if they just stand around or hang crookedly on the hooks. I don’t like the mess in the entrance area. You know what I mean. Maybe I also need to better educate my husband and kids to be tidier.
